Let me preface this rant by saying: I consider myself an informed voter, and am not a registered (insert political party here).
Courtesy of NPR’s constant coverage of republican presidential primaries, I felt compelled to research some recent polls and republican voter demographics. Here are some observations: most of these voters fall into two categories; fiscal, and or social conservatives. Statistically, fiscal conservatives want lower taxes. Statistically, most of these voters will NOT benefit from tax plans proposed by the current nominees. Oh, they want jobs too? Unfortunately, letting the open market sort things out really doesn’t generate jobs, it generates income for corporations. And social conservatives; massive deportation efforts will cost a lot of money (higher taxes) and eliminating a woman’s right to choose will cause a surge in under privileged kids who need assistance (higher taxes AND lower quality of life) these two ideologies can’t coexist in one candidate, yet they all claim to represent both.
As a part of this country, your beliefs deserve to be represented. I certainly don’t mean to discredit anything you hold dear. But, these candidates don’t represent you. Think about more than a party line or a sound bite before you vote.
